Julien Calas
Research Officer, AFD
Julien Calas is an agronomist specializing in development economics, who graduated from AgroParisTech after studying biology at university. He spent ten years working abroad as a project manager for AFD and FFEM in Senegal, Madagascar and Cambodia, in the rural development, environment and microfinance sectors. In 2006, he joined the French Global Environment Facility (FGEF), where he was in charge of marine and terrestrial biodiversity conservation projects. In 2014, he was put in charge of the environmental and rural evaluation program of AFD’s evaluation and capitalization unit (ERS/EVA). Since January 2020, he has joined AFD’s research department (ISR/ECO) where he is in charge of launching a program on biodiversity and a pro-nature economy.
