Kanchana Wickramasinghe
Economist, Recipient of the Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development
Kanchana is an Economist by training, with research interests in environmental and natural resource economics, agricultural economics, and poverty analysis. She won the First Prize for the Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development (ORD) in the Global Development Awards and Medals Competition of the Global Development Network (GDN) in 2014. She also received the Presidential Award for Scientific Publication for her work published in the WHO Health Bulletin. Kanchana is the recipient of the Top Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) in Sri Lanka Award 2014 for Personal Accomplishment, by the Junior Chamber International Sri Lanka. Kanchana holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Agriculture (Specialized in Agricultural Economics) from the University of Peradeniya, and Masters in Economics with a Distinction Pass from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She has also obtained a Post-graduate Diploma in “Universalzing Socio-Economic Security for the Poor” from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague.
Kanchana est économiste de formation. Ses recherches portent sur les ressources environnementales et naturelles, l’économie agricole et l’analyse de la pauvreté. Elle a remporté le premier prix de la Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development (ORD) dans le Global Development Awards et une médaille du Global Development Network (GDN) en 2014. Elle a également reçu le prix présidentiel pour la publication scientifique pour ses articles publiés dans le bulletin de l’OMS. Kanchana est lauréate 2014 du prix Top Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) au Sri Lanka Award 2014 pour ses réalisations personnelles, prix décerné par la Junior Chamber International Sri Lanka. Elle a obtenu une licence de sciences (BSc) en Agriculture, avec distinction (spécialisation en économie agricole) de l’Université de Peradeniya, et une maîtrise en économie avec mention bien de l’Université de Colombo, Sri Lanka. Elle a également obtenu un diplôme supérieur dont le thème de recherche était l’universalisation de la sécurité socio-économique pour les pauvres à l’Institut international d’études sociales (ISS) de La Haye.

Además, cuenta con una licenciatura (con mención honorífica) en Agricultura (Especializada en Economía Agrícola) de la Universidad de Peradeniya y una Maestría en Economía con Pase de Distinción de la Universidad de Colombo, Sri Lanka. También obtuvo un Postgrado en "Universalización de la Seguridad Socio-Económica para los Pobres" del Instituto Internacional de Estudios Sociales (ISS) en La Haya.
