Margaret Fafa Awushie Akwetey

Dr. Margaret Fafa Awushie Akwetey is an aquatic ecologist and Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. Her research focuses on benthic biodiversity, bycatch fisheries, and wetland conservation, with a strong interest in science communication and environmental education. She is a National Geographic Explorer and a recipient of the 2021 AFD-GDN Biodiversity and Development Award. Margaret has also led projects funded by Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO), British Ecological Society (BES), and PADI Foundation. She is a member of several scientific networks, including Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), ASLO, BES and the Ghana Science Association.
