Safa Fanaian is a Researcher at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in Nepal. Her work focuses on water governance, gender equality and social inclusion, water economics and finance, and fostering inclusive decision-making for water security. She has over ten years of experience working with NGOs, governments, academics, and communities to co-design solutions that address systemic barriers and enhance resilience in water systems. Safa holds a PhD in Geography and the Environment from the University of Oxford and is a National Geographic Explorer.
